A MESSAGE FROM director KEVIN BERRIZ
This is a film about relationships with place. We live in a time of mediated interactions and spectacle where a trip to nature means a trip to the zoo. Through the characters in this film, the ideas of ownership, cultural history, and environmental sanctity clash. The Wrecker Kings is a labor of love born from a reverence and respect for a patch of Florida whose land and culture are slowly being paved and fading into the past. Our aim was to tell a Florida story today, one that can resonate with the inhabitants of this place and that could introduce new generations to this forgotten land filled with mystery, humor, and spirit.
